Thomas S. Durant, M.D.

1928-2001

Tom knew you didn't have to be a hero to make a difference. But if you could be a little brave for five minutes at a time, then you could make a difference for people living in fear all the time. And a few people working together for that five minutes could make a huge difference to entire threatened populations.

That is why Tom is a hero to so many among us. He helped us live beyond ourselves--patients and providers alike. His memory is cherished. His spirit will endure.
